Client: Battersea Arts Centre
Contractor: 8 Build
Scope of Works: Decorating works to interior and exterior; Sign writing; Restoration; Intumescent Spraying
Points of interest: Grade II Listed

The Battersea Arts Centre is a beautiful Grade II listed Town Hall located in the heart of Battersea, London.

KML were part of the team appointed to the project to provide major restoration and refurbishment of the Grand Hall and Lower Hall following a major fire that caused considerable damage to those parts of the building.

KML carried out all interior and exterior decorating works, including the letter writing of external signage, the Grand Hall gallery and the turret on the top of the building.

As part of the Decorating package, the team were responsible for the application of the intumescent and topcoat paint to the newly replaced structural roof steels. For this part of the project, we used AkzoNobel’s International Intercryl 525 Paint- a low VOC, water based, anti-corrosive primer/finish based on weather resistant acrylic copolymer technology. For the other areas KML selected Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt and Eggshell finishes for their durability and flawless finish.

KML were awarded The Dulux Connect Awards H1 2021 Sustainable Approach to a Project for the work we did at Battersea Arts Centre.
